The Box

 Don't be afraid to be outrageous. The best authors tend to be those that think outside of the box. They dismantle it, turn it upside down, sometimes even destroy it. Sometimes they would paint over it or turn it into something new. 

The box is just a box, but if you see it in a different way, it becomes something much more interesting. 

This isn't for every author of course. Some authors are wonderful at storytelling within the box, using linear plot lines and familiar character troupes. 

If you are wondering what the 'box' is, well, you'll have to figure that out first before you think outside of it. 

What is the box to me? It's a one streamlined single piece of thought that is familiar to a specific society or group. It is safe and easy to understand.  

I don't like safe when it comes to storytelling. Safe does not allow growth. 

You don't have to think outside of the box in order to be an author, just don't be afraid to get out of it.
